As an Actuarial Advisor, you will participate in actuarial-related strategic decisions for the Special Markets Solutions division.

Do you have experience in a life insurance actuarial team? Have you developed excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a sharp mind and an eye for detail? Don’t miss out on this exciting opportunity to join a team of young, dynamic actuaries in Vancouver!

As an Actuarial Advisor, you will:

  • Participate in actuarial-related strategic decisions for the Special Markets Solutions division
  • Monitor changes in the Canadian actuarial landscape, and coordinate implementation of changes in cooperation with iAQ Corporate Actuarial
  • Review and provide insight on the financial results of the division
  • Perform or review other corporate actuarial tasks, such as Capital calculations, DCAT projections and Appointed Actuary's reporting
  • Participate in the development and modification of insurance product features and pricing models
  • Participate in the IFRS 17 implementation projects
  • Evaluate new sales opportunities and provide support for proposals and agreements
  • Establish and maintain relationships with reinsurance partners and Third Party Administrators
  • Negotiate and review reinsurance treaties and TPA agreements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in either Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Business or Economics
  • ASA designation from the Society of Actuaries,
  • Some further progress towards the FSA/FCIA designations, with the intention to complete this designation
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills
  • Can see the big picture, question solutions and make appropriate recommendations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to target specific audiences when presenting
  • Bilingual (English/French) would be considered an asset
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team
  • Highly organized, able to take initiative and work independently
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments under pressure
  • Strong proficiency in MS-Office applications, including Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint
  • Visual Basic programming skills would be considered an asset
