Version 1.0 — effective 2026-08-11
This policy describes exactly what the Canada Talents app collects, why, and what you can do about it. It is written from what is actually in our database, not from a template.
Your account. Your email address and your name. Your password is handled by our authentication provider and we never see it.
Your profile, if you fill it in. Display name, photo, phone, job title, company, field of work, country and province. All optional.
Your progress. Steps you tick in the guides, video progress, quiz answers, and the milestones you reach.
What you post. Questions and answers, plus reports and blocks you make.
A notification token, only if you turn notifications on. It identifies your device, not you.
Your email on a waiting list, if you ask to be told when a guide is published.
No advertising. No selling or renting your data. No third-party analytics, no advertising trackers, no pixels. We measure usage from the data above, in aggregate: how many people finish a chapter, which questions are most often missed. Never who.
On Supabase, in the Canada (ca-central-1) region. Your data stays in Canada. For members in the European Union, Canada holds an adequacy decision from the European Commission for commercial organisations subject to PIPEDA.
Only your display name, your photo if you share it, your milestones if you share them, and the questions and answers you post.
Never your email, phone, company, country, membership status or guide progress. Photo and milestones can be switched off from your profile at any time.
For as long as your account exists. Deleting your account deletes your profile, photo, progress, answers, milestones, posts and any city waitlist signup. On our current hosting plan no automated backups are retained, so deletion is immediate and cannot be restored. Technical logs — sign-ins and API calls, kept by our host to diagnose failures — are deleted automatically after 24 hours.
You can view and correct your information from the Profile screen, and delete your account from the same screen — without writing to us and without giving a reason.
Depending on where you live you also have rights under PIPEDA (Canada), Law 25 (Quebec) and the GDPR (European Union): access, rectification, erasure, portability, withdrawal of consent, and complaint to your data protection authority.
The app is not intended for people under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
